Artist’s Statement: (1993)

My work is figurative; my theme is the human figure in the landscape. Transparent colors that sometimes overlap, sometimes touch or almost touch, express the fragility of the relationship between the human and his surroundings. The delicate masses of color that define the areas of land and sky and the human figure are of equal importance, symbolic of the relationship that is, perhaps, possible between human and nature.

This year I would like to continue to explore the technique of silkscreen using transparencies and blending of colour. I will also do two editions of woodcuts, explorting overlays of color using the theme of the human’s enduring spirit in the landscape.
